Since 2020, couples have been able to enter into a legal marriage online through the State of Utah. Registration is available from anywhere in the world and takes approximately two weeks. The application requires passports and photos.

The marriage is recognized in most countries, including Russia and Indonesia, as well as other countries that are parties to the Hague Convention.

You receive:

• An electronic marriage certificate
• Original documents with an apostille

Where applicable, the apostilled certificate and a certified translation can be used to add a marriage stamp to a passport through the appropriate civil-record authority.

Apostille: an apostille certifies a document's authenticity for use abroad and makes it legally valid in countries that are parties to the Hague Convention.

Important: same-sex marriages are recognized only in countries where local law permits recognition.

Required documents and participants:

• Valid passports for both applicants
• One witness for each applicant, each with a passport
• Selfie photos of the applicants
• Payment of the government fee

1. Documents and ceremony date: we prepare the documents and select a date. The nearest dates are usually available within 1-1.5 weeks and sometimes sooner.

2. Online ceremony: the ceremony takes place on Zoom with an officiant, both applicants, and at least two witnesses. It lasts approximately 30 minutes.

3. Vows: the vows can be spoken in your own words. An interpreter can join if needed.

4. Documents: the electronic certificate is issued immediately after the ceremony, the paper certificate is normally ready in about three days, and apostilled documents are ready to ship in approximately one week.

Delivery: approximately 1-1.5 weeks to Indonesia and up to one month to Russia.

Restriction: a new marriage cannot be registered if either applicant's previous marriage ended less than two months ago.
