Details
A Work KITAS is a residence permit issued to a foreign national to work in one specific position at one specific Indonesian company. The employer must formally invite and sponsor the employee. The permit is issued for one year and can be renewed.
You may work only for the sponsoring company and only in the approved position. Working for multiple companies or combining different roles is not allowed. Some occupations in Indonesia are closed to foreign nationals, so the position must be reviewed before filing.
A Work KITAS allows you to enter and leave Indonesia without limit while the permit is valid, work and receive employment income legally in Indonesia, use healthcare services at local rates, and open an account with any Indonesian bank.
It also allows you to apply from Indonesia for Schengen visas and visas for Japan.
A spouse, children, and parents can apply for Family KITAS permits, and those applications can begin at the same time as the employee's Work KITAS.
Processing time: an average of 30-35 business days. Unlike the process at many other companies, you do not need to wait several months or attend an immigration interview.
Government fee: USD 1,200, paid separately.
